About Us

The Northern Emergency Medical Services Authority, also known as Northern EMS Authority or NEMSA, is owned and operated by the municipalities of Bruce Township, Chippewa Township, Detour Township, Drummond Island Township, Hulbert Township, Kinross Charter Township, Marquette Township, Pickford Township, Raber Township, and Rudyard Township in Michigan’s Eastern Upper Peninsula and is considered “super rural”. NEMSA was established in 2024 due to rising concerns and a need for sustainable Emergency Medical Services for the residents and visitors of Chippewa County. We provide Advanced Life Support (ALS), Limited Advanced Life Support (LALS), and Basic Life Support (BLS) to a primary service area of approximately 1193 square miles with a population of 15,464.
